Convert HEIC to PNG on this device

Use PNG when you will edit further and do not want another JPG generation to smear edges: a product shot headed into Photoshop, a screenshot-like crop, or a file a print shop asked for as PNG. The PNG will usually be larger than the HEIC and larger than a JPG of the same picture. That is expected. PNG stores pixels without the extra JPG rounding.

You can do this in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. iPhone HEIC does not require Safari anymore. When the browser cannot open HEIC itself, a decoder runs locally in this tab. The photo never leaves the device. There is no account and no watermark.

Camera HEIC files are opaque. Saving as PNG does not invent a transparent background. If you started from an SVG logo, use SVG to PNG instead. If you only needed a file that Windows and email can open, HEIC to JPG is the lighter choice.

Quality does not apply: PNG is lossless at this step. You can still convert many files at once and download a zip. If a HEIC looks corrupted, you get an error instead of a blank PNG. Very large files (over 80 MB) are refused so a phone tab does not run out of memory.

After you have the PNG, resize it if the pixel size is huge, or compress / convert to JPG if you actually needed a small attachment. Hidden GPS from the iPhone is not something you should assume survived, but check Remove EXIF & GPS before you share a location-sensitive shot.

On ancient browsers that cannot run the decoder, save a JPG on the iPhone (Camera → Formats → Most Compatible) and convert that. That fallback is only for old software, not for current Chrome or Firefox on a PC.
