When to use this

A landscape photo will keep only a thin strip through the middle. That is the platform, not a bug. Centre the subject before you drop the file, or switch fit to contain if you would rather see the whole picture with bars.

Leave space at the top and bottom for story UI chrome (stickers, reply field, username). Exporting at 1080×1920 stops Instagram from adding another downscale on top of a 4000px phone photo.

TikTok uses the same 1080×1920 frame. If that is the destination, the TikTok size page is the same crop with copy aimed at that app. Feed posts are 1080×1080 — use Instagram post size for those.
