Which format should I pick?
Choose JPG for everyday photos and anything you will email or text. Almost every app can open it.
Choose PNG for screenshots, logos, and pictures with sharp text. The file is often larger, but it stays crisp.
Choose WebP if the photo is going on a website. It is usually smaller than JPG and still looks good.
Choose GIF when you need that format for an old site or chat. It is a still picture (no animation) and photos look best as JPG or WebP.

Tips
- JPG cannot keep a see-through background. Clear areas become white.
- SVG logos keep a clear background if you save as PNG (or WebP). Icons without a size become 1024 pixels on the long edge.
- GIF is a still picture. An animated GIF becomes one frame.
- iPhone HEIC photos convert in Safari. Other browsers cannot open HEIC, so save a JPG on the iPhone first.
- If someone cannot open a WebP file, convert it to JPG instead.
- You can convert many photos at once. They still never leave this device.

- Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?
- Yes in Safari on iPhone or Mac. Drop the HEIC and save as JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF. Chrome and Firefox on Windows usually cannot open HEIC. There, export a JPG from the iPhone (Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible) and convert that.
