Add a border on this device

Put a frame of colour around a photo. White for print and listings, black for a simple edge, or any colour you pick. The picture itself stays whole. Nothing is uploaded.

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC, or AVIF. Your photos stay on this device.

When to use this

Use this when a photo disappears into a white page, or a product shot needs a clean margin before you upload it. A border adds pixels around the image. Width and height both grow.

Width is the thickness on each side, in pixels. 16 pixels is a light edge that separates a photo from a white background. 48 or 64 pixels reads more like a mat for print or a slide.

JPG cannot store a clear background. Empty pixels in the picture take the border colour when you save JPG. Keep PNG when those pixels should stay clear. WebP can keep them too.

After the border, compress if the file grew, or resize if a site wants an exact pixel size.

How to do it

  1. Drop one image or a batch. Files stay on this device.
  2. Pick a width and a colour. White, black, or your own.
  3. Pick JPG, PNG, or WebP, and set the quality if you are not saving PNG.
  4. Add the border, then download each file or a zip of the batch.

Tips

  • 16 pixels is a light edge. 48 pixels reads more like a mat.
  • White is the usual choice for print and product listings. Black is a simple edge on light photos.
  • The border is added on every side, so the file gets wider and taller by twice the width.
  • JPG fills clear pixels with the border colour. Use PNG if those pixels should stay clear.

FAQ

Do my photos leave this device?
No. The border is drawn in this browser. We never receive the files.
Does this cut the photo?
No. It adds pixels around the picture. Width and height both grow by twice the border width.
Can I add a border to several images at once?
Yes. They share the same width, colour, and output format. Download a zip at the end.
Why did my PNG lose its clear background as a JPG?
JPG has no transparency. Empty pixels take the border colour. Save PNG if you need them clear.
