Convert HEIC to JPG on this device

Use this when someone sent an iPhone photo and double-clicking it on a PC does nothing, or when an upload form rejects the file. HEIC is the default camera format on many iPhones. It is smaller than an equivalent JPG on the phone, which is why Apple uses it. Outside Apple's apps, that advantage disappears: Photo Viewer, older Outlook, some printers, and a long tail of websites still expect JPG.

You do not need to change Camera formats on the iPhone first, and you do not need Safari. Current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge can finish the job here. When the browser cannot decode HEIC itself (typical on Windows Chrome), a decoder runs in this tab. The photo never leaves the device. Close the page and it is gone from the tool.

Leave output on JPG and quality near 0.9 unless the file must be tiny. JPG is the compatibility format: email, WhatsApp on some phones, CMS fields, and “attach a photo” forms. If you still need a see-through background, this is the wrong target — HEIC photos from the camera are opaque anyway. Use PNG only if an editor asked for a lossless copy.

Live Photos and bursts can store more than one still in a HEIC container. This tool converts the main still. If the file looks damaged, you will get a clear error rather than a black frame. Files over 80 MB are refused because decoding that much in a tab will often freeze a phone.

This site does not write HEIC, and it does not build a PDF suite. After you have a JPG, resize it for the web, compress it for an upload cap, or strip GPS before you share. For a PDF, convert to JPG here, then use JPG to PDF on ❤️ LoveThisPDF, which also runs in the browser.

On a very old browser that cannot run the decoder, the fallback is still the iPhone setting: Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, which saves JPG on the phone. That is a last resort, not the normal path anymore.
