When to use this

Use this when you care about the crop, not just max width. A landscape phone photo will lose the sides. A portrait photo will lose top and bottom. The crop is centred. You can override width, height, and switch to contain if you must keep the whole picture (that will letterbox).

Instagram still recompresses after you post. Exporting at the native 1080 square avoids an extra downscale on their side. Quality around 0.88 is enough; going to 1.0 rarely survives their encoder.

Why 1080×1080?
That is the feed post size Instagram uses. Larger files get scaled down by the app.
Can I pick what gets cropped?
Not as a free-form crop here. The crop is centred. Change to contain, or crop first in an editor.
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in this browser. We never receive the files.
Can I change the size?
Yes. The preset is a starting point. Width, height, and fit can be overridden.
