When to use this

Etsy shows a square in search and on the listing. A 2000×2000 file gives the marketplace enough pixels for zoom without sending a 12 MP camera original. Contain is the default here: the whole product stays in frame, with padding if the photo is not already square. Switch to cover if you want the square filled and are willing to crop the edges.

White or clean padding is normal for product shots. This tool does not add a studio background; contain on a white JPG fill will letterbox with white. If you need a custom crop or text, do that first, then drop the file here.

You can override 2000×2000 if a shop template asked for another size. After download, compress only if Etsy or your own host still rejects the file weight.

Why contain instead of cover?
Product photos usually must show the whole item. Cover would crop. You can switch to cover if you want a filled square.
Is 2000×2000 required?
It is the size Etsy recommends for listing images. You can override it.
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in this browser. We never receive the files.
Can I change the size?
Yes. The preset is a starting point. Width, height, and fit can be overridden.
