# Get a photo under an upload size limit

> Automatically compress and resize a photo to stay under 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, or 5 MB. Runs in your browser. No upload to us.

Job portals, visa sites, university forms, and marketplaces love a “max 2 MB” rule and hate explaining how. This tool tries quality first, then shrinks width, until the file fits. Work happens in this tab, not on our servers.

Online Image Converter. Language: English. https://onlineimageconverter.net/fit-upload-limit

## How to start

1. Drop the photo that was rejected.
2. Type the limit in MB (for example 0.5, 1, 2, or 5).
3. Wait. It may try several encodings. The row shows the final size.
4. Download and retry the form.

## Notes

- Start with the real limit. Going far under 2 MB when 2 MB is allowed only makes the photo softer.
- A 40 MP phone photo may need both quality and width cuts to hit 500 KB.
- If the form also demands exact pixel dimensions (e.g. 35×45 mm), resize first, then fit bytes.

## Price

Always free. There is no account, no paid tier, and no watermark.

## What this site does not do

- There is no upload API, no account, and no paid tier. Photos are not sent to or stored by the site.
- Output formats are JPG, PNG, WebP, and still GIF. SVG can be opened as an input and saved as PNG with transparency.
- HEIC and HEIF can be opened in current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. A local decoder runs in the tab when the browser cannot decode HEIC itself. AVIF stills can be opened in current browsers.
- There is no convert-to-HEIC. Animated AVIF is not supported. GIF output is a still picture. An animated GIF becomes one frame.
- This site does not make PDFs. For converting images into a PDF, use JPG to PDF on [❤️ LoveThisPDF](https://lovethispdf.com/tools/jpg-to-pdf), which also runs in the browser.
- It does not add Content Credentials (C2PA). It can strip them on Remove EXIF & GPS.
- Converting JPG to PNG does not invent a transparent background.

## Requirements

Any phone, tablet, or computer with a browser. Nothing to install. HEIC and AVIF convert in current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. A decoder runs in this tab when the browser cannot open HEIC itself. Very old browsers may still need a JPG from the iPhone. Very large images may fail if the device runs out of memory. Results can differ between browsers because encoders (especially WebP and JPEG quality) are implemented by the browser vendor.
